Dr. Srinath Raghavan
Historian | Author | Strategic Affairs Expert
Dr. Srinath Raghavan is a Professor of International Relations and History at Ashoka University, with a distinguished career spanning academia, policy research, and military service. Before joining academia, he served as an infantry officer in the Indian Army for six years. He has previously taught at King’s College London and worked at the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi, with visiting appointments at Yale University, Deakin University, and King’s College London.
An acclaimed historian, Dr. Raghavan is the author of several books, including Fierce Enigmas: A History of the United States in South Asia (2018), India’s War: The Making of Modern South Asia, 1939-1945 (2016), and 1971: A Global History of the Creation of Bangladesh (2013). His upcoming book, Indira Gandhi and the Years that Transformed India, is set for release in May 2025. He has also served as the Official Historian of the Kargil War (2016-2021) for the Ministry of Defence, with the official history slated for publication in 2025.
