Geeta Ramanujam is an internationally acclaimed storyteller, educator, and author, widely recognized as a pioneer of the storytelling movement in India. She is the Founder-Director of Kathalaya’s International Academy of Storytelling, the world’s only globally recognized storytelling academy, with affiliations in the USA, Scotland, and Sweden.
Kathalaya has trained over 98,000 people across 188 batches and operates 20 centers in India and abroad.
A three-time TEDx speaker and Ashoka Fellow, Geeta has traveled to 48 countries and 27 Indian states, using storytelling as a transformative tool for learning. She has performed and conducted workshops at prestigious venues, including the Scottish Storytelling Centre (UK), Norway, Germany, Japan, and the USA. Her recent book, Tales from Around the World (Penguin), showcases her deep engagement with global folklore.
Her contributions have earned her multiple accolades, including the International Best Storyteller Award at BOCADOCEU Storytelling Festival (Brazil), the Tamil Nadu Governor’s Award for Best Story Narrator, and recognition in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat program.
